Background Proof of what I have accomplished from NASA Astronauts and other Space Program Professionals

Space Shuttle Mission STS-80, Astronaut Story Musgrave thanking me.

Text: "To Clark (ScO) See you out there!"

Certificate for NASA Apollo 11 Mission contributions signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on July 16, 1969, Kennedy Space Center.

Text: "Apollo 11 Mission - Manned Flight Awareness Honoree - Clark C. McClelland - in appreciation for your outstanding contribution to the Apollo program through your skill and pride in performance which made man's first landing on the moon a complete success."

NASA Astronaut James Irwin, who was born in my birthplace, Pittsburgh, PA, brought me back three Patriotic US Flags from the Moon. He was thanking me for my assistance in preparing the Apollo 15 for launch in 1971. Jim was a good friend of mine until his untimely death.

Text: "Dear Clark: I had the honor of carrying these three flags to the moon on Apollo 15. I am now returning the flags to the City of Titusville for appropriate display.

I took the liberty of mounting one. If you would like us to mount the other two flags in similar fashion, please let us know. Sincerely, James B. Irvin, Colonel, USAF, NASA Astronaut.

This was at an official VIP NASA Celebration on Cocoa Beach the night before the first launch, the following AM, of Apollo 11 to land on the Moon, July 15, 1969. I am slightly behind the head of a woman who stepped in front of me a moment before the photo was snapped.

Text: "To Clark, Best Wishes - Wernher von Braun .

Apollo Achievement Award signed by NASA Administrator.

Text: "In appreciation of dedicated service to the nation as a member of the team which has advanced the nation's capabilities in aeronautics and space and demonstrated them in many outstanding accomplishments culminating in Apollo 11's successful achievement of man's first landing on the moon, July 20, 1969."

Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor by the Boeing Company, also signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on 9/15/1969.

Text: "Be it known that the name of C. C. McClelland has been entered into the Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor.

Down through the ages, great pioneering efforts - Marco Polo's journey to the orient, Columbus' discovery of America, colonization of the New World - have been subjects of penetrating study by historians, both professional and amateur. Such an event that will capture the imagination of future historians is happening now; it is the pioneering of space and you have been part of this effort.

The Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor is a unique volume dedicated to the purpose of recording for all time the names of individuals who so diligently, over the years, put forth their energies and skills to make possible mankind's greatest expedition; that of sending three men to the moon and returning them to earth safely. Throughout the ages, individual contributors have all too often been forgotten. Not so here, your name and your deed will be preserved for our generation, and for those who follow.

One copy of this volume will be placed in the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., a second in the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., and a third within an approporate monument. The emplacement of these volumes will occur shortly after the return of the astronauts from the moon.

To commemorate the occasion of having your name entered into the Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor, you are being presented this doubloon, which will serve as evidence to your family, friends and acquaintances of your distinguised participation in man's greatest adventure."

Walter Cronkite, world famous newsman for CBS Television, signed this photo for me with the following note for me:

Text: "To Clark McClelland: A Space Pioneer and a top Spacecraft Operator . With admiration for your work - Walter Cronkite"

Me and my friend NASA Astronaut Judy Resnick who died in the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1996.

From NASA Astronau Brian Duffy.

Text: "To Clark, with sincere thanks for all your contributions to the space program -- particularly your great work as SCO for STS-45. The orbiter worked like a charm! With very best wishes, Brian Duffy, STS-45, STS-57."

ScO Course Document from KSC:

My University level courses document, with dates and course titles:

I assisted in test flying the Lunar Module (LM) in simulation prior to the first manned lunar module flying to the moon and returning to earth without landing on during the Apollo 10 Mission. I designed the blue Apollo 10 mission emblem on the certificate for the crew.

Text: "Apollo 10 - Stafford, Young, Cernan - Certificate of Appreciation. This is to Certify that Clark C. McClelland was a member of the Grumman Team that launched LM-4, the first Manned Lunar Module into lunar orbit on May 18, 1969 from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Signed by: Stafford, Young, Cernand and the KSC Base Manager George M. Skurla."

Astronaut Sally Ride, America's first woman in space, calling me "a great ScO."

Text: "To Clark, a great ScO! Best Wishes! Sally Ride"

From Space Shuttle Astronaut and Commander Eileen M. Collins. She commanded the first shuttle mission following the destruction of the Columbia in 2003.

Text: "To Clark: Thanks for your years of outstanding support as a Space Shuttle SCO! Eileen Collins - 29 June 96."

I am checking and verifying a crucial measurment on the huge Saturn V Apollo 11 launch rocket at Pad 39, KSC, Florida, 12 July 1969.

NASA Astronaut Mae C. Jemison wrote me this note:

Text: "To Clark McClelland - Thank you for getting the Shuttle ready to go and all my best wishes! Mae C. Jemison"

From NASA Astronaut Kathryn Thornton:

Text: "To Clark McClelland, Thank you for letting us borrow your orbiter, Best wishes! Kathy Thornton"

From NASA Astronaut "Buzz" Aldrin, thanking me.

Text: "To Clark C. McClelland. With Many Best Wishes and Thanks for your help on our birds and your patch suggestions - Buzz Aldrin"

Two mission emblems I designed. The Apollo 11 first landing on the moon and the Challenger Memorial Emblem that NASA would not allow to be created. NASA wanted the Challenger forgotten as quickly as possible in human minds.
