A-4 This is a RARE Moslem (Egyptian) prayer ring taken from the body of a dead Arab by a German Tank Sargeant who had served with Field Marshall Erwin Rommell and his Afrika Corp at the battle of El Alamein in north Africa. The German was later transferred to serve near the Buchanwald Concentration Camp near Weimer, Germany. Clarks father was with General George S. Patton when the camp was liberated on April 11,1945. He noticed the ring on the finger of a captured German SS member who was at the camp and the German offered it to his father to be allowed to escape. He was refused, yet gave it to his father in hopes that he would help him escape. The German was later reported to have committed suicide. It has a gold camel and palm tree engraved on it and the Arab symbols are gold. Price: $4,500 firm.
