A-22 This aluminum medallion made from actual metal flown in the Apollo 8 spacecraft was presented to McClelland at Kennedy Space Center by the crew of the Apollo 8 that flew the first mission to reach the near vicinity of the lunar surface launched on December 21, 1998. It was the historic mission that the Commander, Frank Borman stated on Christmas Day, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth". His crew was James Lovell and William Anders.
